Order the iron man crushed helmet at ebay, on request by client. Its a recast unit from hot toys exclusive iron man mk 3. A comparison between the crushed helmet with the normal helmet. The recast unit is painted in silver and its make out of resin. So, my job is to paint it into gold and red.
Before goes into painting, i found some bubbles at the face plate and bottom of the neck, have to fill in and sand off the putty.
As seen on the top photo (red circle) are those bubbles trapped during casting. I filled it up with dissolve putty and sand it with sanding sponge and file. The paint work will be next, need to paint scratches and cracks on the helmet, and do some weathering as like it going through a tough fight. Stay tuned for more updates.

Just to share with other how i fix Hot Toys Ironman Mk3 pink armor. Its quiet serious on the fading armor for this Hot Toys collection. Can see the abdomen, neck, crotch armor and even hand are in pink color. Most serious and visible is the abdomen and crotch armor, the hand and neck still bearable.
I just spray Gaianote clear red on the knuckle, the fading is not that serious, so couple of layer of clear red will tone it back. The battle damage paint with paint brush, i using citadel boltgun metal and vallejo dark grey for the battle damages.
As for the neck, crotch and abdomen. I paint it with steps as shown below. Its the same method as Ironman Mk6, my previous post.
1. Silver paints.
2.Mist coat of gaianote clear red. (2 layers to make sure its evenly cover the whole abdomen)
3.Wet coat (1-2 layers make sure its glossy and look wet)
4.Wet coat (1-2 layers to make the red darker, which closer to hot toys factory painted metallic red)
Here’s another photo to show the before n after.

Got couple of requests on fixing ironman pink panties. Here i show how i fix the ironman mk 6 pink panties.
I using air brush methods, so only recommend to those who got air brushing tools.
The crotch armor of ironman mk 6 is made out of soft rubber, and its the only parts which faded. First of all, i will remove the faded paints. The thinner i using is Hobby Thinner which is locally made by a hobby shop – Hobby HQ which only sell in the shop, other brand of thinner such as Mr. Hobby, Gaianote even nail polish remover can be use to remove the paints.
Once remove the red paints, can notice that there’s a silver layer underneath. Seem like Hot Toys is painting with candy method.
After remove the paints the original color of the rubber is close to the figure itself, but it lack of ‘metallic’ feel to it, ironman without the ‘metallic’, hahaha just kidding.
Here’s the 4 steps i done to get back the metallic red. With 30 minutes interval of each steps.
1. Silver as base. (not need gloss black, because that will over shine the factory painted metallic red)
2. 2 layers of mist coat (using gaianote no.041 clear red)
3. 2 layers of wet coat.
4. another 2 layers of wet coat.
No need to top coat, because the top coat is make out of harder material which will crack once bend the rubber.
Here’s the comparison of the progress.
Hope it help and happy repainting.
