Continue with the repaint of Hot Toys Iron Man Mk 3. I shade the armor with subtle black painted on the lines and grooves, the shade is visible even with few heavy wet coat of the semi clear red.
After painted the red its time to touch up on the details, i use acrylic matt black to paint the detail and panel lines.
The before and after repaint, i use brighter red compare to hot toys iron man mk 3. I do observe that Hot Toys iron man mk 3 painting is different from the battle damage version, battle damage version is better than normal version. But the cons is battle damage version faded (abdomen armor) over time. I do believe is due to the paints hot toys used, whereas normal version is just color of the rubber. So, it won’t faded as much as battle damage. Of course dust and oil do affect the rubber to look ‘worn out’.
More photo coming soon. :)

Commission repaint for the Hot Toys Iron Man mk3. The figures was in very bad shape when i receive it, color look dull and dirty, some paints even start to crack. Wonder what this Iron Man gone through with his previous owner.
So my job is to repaint and give back the shine he should have, so i decided to paint it in slightly different red and gold.
The paint work of the head.
I use mr. color gold (no. 9) with custom mixed semi clear red, bout 30% gaia bright red 70% gaia clear red.
I had finish painted the torso as well, and the next step would be painting the details and touch up the those error during masking, for stay tuned for more.

Order the iron man crushed helmet at ebay, on request by client. Its a recast unit from hot toys exclusive iron man mk 3. A comparison between the crushed helmet with the normal helmet. The recast unit is painted in silver and its make out of resin. So, my job is to paint it into gold and red.
Before goes into painting, i found some bubbles at the face plate and bottom of the neck, have to fill in and sand off the putty.
As seen on the top photo (red circle) are those bubbles trapped during casting. I filled it up with dissolve putty and sand it with sanding sponge and file. The paint work will be next, need to paint scratches and cracks on the helmet, and do some weathering as like it going through a tough fight. Stay tuned for more updates.

I got quiet a few requests on repaint and restore the color of the armor on Hot Toys Iron man. Its a very common defects, which only appear after some times.
Here is a Iron man Mk. III i receive today, almost the whole abdomen armor are faded and turn into pink.
The whole abdomen armor are make out of rubber which is flexible, only HT iron man mkIII abdomen is make out of rubber other series are only at the crotch armor, and will turn into pink panties over time. >_< Something i find it kinda disappointing, although i not HT collector but its a quiet pricey collection, so they better think a way to resolve the problem.
Beside ironman mk III, i got another mk VI with me, need to work on both of the armor soon and will put up the steps i went through to restore the color and tones. Stay tuned.
